Collaborations 2010-2011
Dave Bielunski and I collaborated on these songs. Dave is a friend from school days and a very talented musician and songwriter. It was a great privilege and pleasure be able to collaborate with him on these tunes. "Collaborations" seemed an apt title for this material.

"A Time to Move Forward" (collaboration with DJB) My contribution is the second half of the song, building on the melody that Dave provided with his 12-string bass parts. Dave provided the music track. I added some acoustic guitar, a few words and the vocal. Lyric: "I once had love, but it went far, far away."
"Your Time to Shine" (collaboration with DJB) Dave's brother, John, added drums for us. This music for this was a collaborative effort. I wrote the lyric for Sage.

"Sing" (also collaboration with DJB) Dave's brother, John, added drums. I had a very basic start on this from which we built up the music.

"Whole Lotta Luck" (collaboration with DJB)..snappy, bouncy, jazzy...cha, cha, cha... Dave is holding down piano, bass, and rhythm guitar and the organ solo. I am handling vox and some jazzy guitar chords in the solo. We recorded the solo parts (me on guitar and Dave on organ) in our own "studios" and when I pulled them into the mix, it sounded like we we had played them in the same room. Chemistry!

"Dream" (also collaboration with DJB) John added drums. Notes: This is a re-work of a song I wrote several years ago. Dave is on 12-string bass and organ. I am handling the vocals and the guitars. I have recorded yet another version with a female singer (Gwen) on vox. You can hear her voice in this recording in the middle...I think this one came together as a nice collaboration.
"Where Did the Day Go" (Collaboration with DJB) Dave sent me the completed music track and was looking for words. After discussing the time-stealing practice of spending all day in studio, this lyric took all of 3 minutes to write and just a few more than that to record the vocal. I added one brief slide guitar bit because there was no way I was going to hit the note that I was hearing with the vocal. It's one of those lyrics that if you have to ask, you'll never understand...a fitting swan song to wrap this collection.
"She Went to a Party" (features DJB on Mandolin.)
"The Thing About Space" (features DJB on bass)
Note: This was long-distance collaboration. Dave sent me files to AZ from Illinois, Cali and Texas. You can find a sample of Dave's originals on this site.
