"Beneath the Big Bright Silver Moon"
A line came to me while walking the beach in North Carolina. "You won't find her in Carolina on the beach or on the moon." I tried to do something with that line and could not so this is what resulted.
You know you’ve got it bad when your coffee’s gone cold and you can’t recall the last sip that you had /The clock on the wall and the rising of the sun don’t agree on the same time at all/The lost song you wrote reads like a goodbye note and it sings like a mournful tune/You can look anywhere/You won’t find her there/She left beneath the beneath the big, bright silver moon.
Silver moon, won’t you shine your light/Show me where my baby is tonight/Silver moon, won’t you shone so bright/She left beneath the beneath the big, bright silver moon.
You don’t know from right or wrong/You only know gone is gone/Until she was gone, you never knew just what you had/You know you’ve got it bad when you’re holding on too long to a love that had ended to soon/You can look anywhere/You won’t find her there/She left beneath the beneath the big, bright silver moon.
Silver moon, won’t you shine your light/Show me where my baby is tonight/Silver moon, won’t you shone so bright/She left beneath the beneath the big, bright silver moon.
You think about the time when the love birds on your front gate were fussing and fighting and flapping their wings/Magnolia flower in her hair, you knew right then and there that your Winter had turned to Spring/Had you only known that those love birds had flown away, then you’d have surely known that she’d be your ruin/Now, you look anywhere/You won’t find her there/She left beneath the beneath the big, bright silver moon.
Silver moon, won’t you shine your light/Show me where my baby is tonight/Silver moon, won’t you shone so bright/She left beneath the beneath the big, bright silver moon.
You know you’ve got it bad when your coffee gone cold is the only way of keeping time you have, except for the shadows on the wall and the rising of the sun which you didn’t really notice at all/You hear the words out loud, “Boy, I guess that’s all she wrote” and you realize you’re the only one in the room/You can look anywhere/You won’t find her there/She left beneath the beneath the big, bright silver moon.
Silver moon, won’t you shine your light/Show me where my baby is tonight/Silver moon, won’t you shone so bright/She left beneath the beneath the big, bright silver moon.

"The Most Loneliest Guy"
Simple song...simple concept...by degree there must be... The sound at the beginning is reverb plates from my Fender amp.
So you say that you had yourself a very bad day/This feeling will end and you’ll come around okay/Somewhere in this world, there’s the most beautiful girl/Somewhere in this world, there’s the most beautiful sight/One thing that’s clear is the most loneliest guy is right here and that just might be the reason why.
"Or I Could Say"
I borrowed the chords from George...they seemed just right for the Gretsch sound.
Or I could say that I love you/Ah, but, who am I?/And what is love?/And what are you to me, just a memory in my mind?/For all I know, my minds been playing tricks all this time.
Or I could say that I feel you, feel you in my heart/But, what is it to feel and what’s a heart to me, just drum that can’t keep time when you’re here/For all I know, my heart’s been playing tricks when you’re here.
And surely life and death are not illusion and the time between is fleeting/We would be remiss if we did not take full advantage of our meeting.
Whose to say, life could be long and we’ll hang on and on and we’ll run out of these desperate things to say/Maybe it’s best we not take a chance/For all we know fate’s counting on us not to give each other a second glance/Or, I could say that I love you.

"Goodbye Eventually"
I heard a Mexican band from LA on the radio and wrote and recorded this one.
Goodbye Maria. It was sure good to see you/In answer to your question, No baby, I wouldn’t have a clue what’s like to be you even for one day.
Sometimes on my way home, I turn on the radio station to the far end of the dial. I don’t understand a word of it, but the sound of it makes me smile and think of you.
If you once heard La Santa Cecilia, you’ll know you’ve heard the real thing. It’s so sad. You can never understand it, not unless you were born to it, doesn’t mean you can’t fall in love with it, only means you have to say goodbye eventually.
So, Goodbye Maria. It was sure good to see you/In answer to your question, No baby, I wouldn’t have a clue what’s like to be you even for one day.

"If Wishes Were Fishes"
Recording with lap steel for the first time. Kind of a rough recording but kind of liked the feel so leaving it as is..for now anyway.

If wishes were fishes, then I’d be your line/You could toss me in the water and get a strike every time/Reel me back in to net your every desire, then cast me back out like I was any old wire/ So, use me up Annie again and again/What was I born for except to slip through your hands/Love has a way of breaking a man/So, use me up Annie again and again.
There’s water in the ocean/There’s water in the sea/There’s water in the river/So, I don’t need water in my whiskey/At the bottom of this bottle, there’s a feeling of regret/You through a black stone into red sea, all it’s gonna get is wet./So, use me up Annie again and again.

"Save Us"
The lyric was done on a morning walk.
Oh Lord of all above, save us from the pangs of love that drive boys to such bitter ends that now they can not comprehend.
I woke up this morning, where did my baby go?
Oh Lord of all we see, save us from your mystery, from wishes made so carelessly to change what was not meant to be.
I woke up this morning, where did my baby go?
Oh Lord of all that’s true, spare us from the lies we use to compromise innocence without regard for consequence.
I woke up this morning, where did my baby go?
Oh Lord all we know, hide what we’d ask you to show. Protect us from prayers made in vain to give us pleasure and spare us pain.
I woke up this morning, where did my baby go?
Oh Lord of all above, save us from the pangs of love that drive boys to such bitter ends that now they can not comprehend.
I woke up this morning, where did my baby go?

"I Can't Sit Still"
I like the electric guitar sound. I am playing the Gretsch through my old MXR distortion plus from 1979.
I can’t sit still/My thoughts are everywhere and my body wants to follow/I can’t sit still/Perpetual motion’s got a hold on me now/Oh, restless, restless heart, don’t you treat me like your kid/Don’t get so excited/Oh, restless, restless heart, look at what you did/ Take it easy on me now.
I can’t sit still/I’m too old to go looking for love and to young to go living without it/I can’t sit still/Whose gonna have mercy on me now/Oh, restless, restless love, take it easy on me now/Don’t get so excited/Oh, restless, restless love, look at what you did/ Take it easy on me now.
"My Rise and My Decline"
Nothing like putting a date on it to provide perspective. I played the upright bass on this one.

There’s a point in time ’62 to ’40-something/Come observe my rise and my decline/If we only could get past the great divider, maybe there would be something here to learn./I once felt a hand move across a field of pure desire to bring me to comfort and to bring me to quiet/I’m not telling this quite right/To capture that feeling, I would need to find something close to dying.
There’s a point in time ’62 to ’40-something/Come observe my rise and my decline/If we only could get past the great divider, maybe there would be something here to learn./Picture a breeze barely perceptible, gathering strength across ten thousand miles for the sole and single purpose of catching your attention while you were too full of wanting her to notice something here had turned.
